Many scientific and technical words did not originally exist in the Swahili language. By the 1990s, 8,000 new Swahili technical words were introduced, but ill-spread throughout the swahili speaking region. Such items as "micropohone" aren't commonly used by most swahili speakers by their correct translations- "Kipaza sauti" in this case, but a swahilized version of the original word is preffered. It"s also within Swahili"s rules to "borrow" words from other languages and 'swahilize' them without necessarily translating them. e.g. Telegram -Telegramu
