In either case, using "con otro usuario" is a safer and shorter way to translate it, and it can be understood whether said user is the same person or a different person. The use of perfect tenses ("ha sido") instead of passive structures or simple past is generally preferred in Spanish, although I also deem the use of past simple as acceptable for character limitations in software.
