In Spanish we use 'inicia' to express that someone is initiating something. When we want to say that something will begin by itself (like the videochat, which will 'start' and not 'be started'), we use words as 'empieza' or 'comienza'. Inicia would be gramatically correct too, but sounds too unnatural for this case.
