"Iniciar chat" is a literal translation from English "start chat". Even though it's not exactly the same as "Start Messaging", it does sound a little better in Spanish. The reason behing it that the word "chat" itself already has enough meaning for understanding this functionality and there's no real need for a verb to expand the communication.
